SME Accelerator September 21, 2020 - January 28, 2021

SME: Next Orbit was a 14-week virtual acceleration program, designed by PDPU Innovation and Incubation Centre (PDPU IIC) in association with School of Petroleum Management (SPM). The program was intended to help the MSME promoters to think afresh by challenging the traditional mindset and to help them deal with the hit of the pandemic by adopting new methods in their businesses. This program was only designed for a limited number of participants who went through a selection process to ensure the effectiveness of the mentoring. A total of 30 MSME founders joined us on board and the program was only a beginning. The journey with the businesses joined will be continued by continuous support and mentorship from PDPU IIC. Webinar on The Art of Creative Thinking by Mr. Rohan Shah November 06, 2020

PDPU IIC in association with SPT and SOT organized a webinar on “Art of Creative Thinking” by Mr. Rohan Shah, an entrepreneur, leader in IT, and process improvement mentor. Creative thinking is an ideology and highly-progressive process used by designers for solving complex problems in a user centric way. From a business perspective creative thinking offers huge value as it helps one to focus on customers and figure out what they want and need. This webinar aimed to provide the students an opportunity to think and work unconventionally and develop different perspectives to flourish in their respective fields. The webinar witnessed 59 participants on zoom, while Facebook and YouTube live had 10 and 9 views respectively.

Webinar on Technology Transfer by Mr. Andre Kwok October 28, 2020

PDPU in association with PDPU IIC organised a webinar on ‘Technology Transfer’ by Mr. Andre Kwok, Founder, Good City Foundation and Future City Summit. Technology transfer is the movement or flow of technical knowledge, data, designs, prototypes, materials, inventions, software, and/or trade secrets from one organisation to another organisation or from one purpose to another purpose. The webinar aimed to help participants become aware about international practices in terms of technology transfer and gain a competitive advantage.The webinar witnessed 100 participants on Zoom, while Facebook and YouTube Live had 182 and 38 views, respectively.

Webinar on Execution, Traction & Scale by Mr. Rajeev Roy October 23, 2020

PDPU IIC in association with SPM organised a webinar on ‘Execution, Traction and Scale’ by Dr. Rajeev Roy, an entrepreneurship evangelist, professor and startup mentor. In this competitive world, where the dynamics of the market are changing every day, it is important to not only survive the business, but also to expand it while taking calculated risks. The webinar aimed to educate the students on how to comprehend the business environment, identify opportunities of growth, innovate business processes and scale up their business. The webinar witnessed 156 participants on Zoom, while Facebook and YouTube Live had 238 and 36 views, respectively.

Webinar on 'Design Thinking in Energy Sector' by Dr. Sundararaman Chintamani October 17, 2020

PDPU IIC in association with SPT organised a webinar on ‘Design Thinking in the Energy Sector’ by Dr. Sundararaman Chintamani, a design thinking evangelist and the founder of Jignyashika.Design Thinking refers to the cognitive, strategic, and practical processes by which design concepts (proposals for new products, services, machines, etc.) are developed. The webinar aimed to educate participants on the applications of design thinking in the field of energy. The webinar witnessed 72 participants on Zoom, while Facebook and YouTube Live had 13 and 34 views, respectively.

Webinar on ‘Entrepreneurship, Leadership and Management’ by Mr. Jatin Kataria October 13, 2020

PDPU IIC in association with SLS organised a webinar on ‘Entrepreneurship, Leadership and Management’ by Mr. Jatin Kataria, GloCal Serial Entrepreneur & Innovation Consultant and the CEO of We Group - Volcano of GloCal Solutions with an aim to urge the participants to follow a Problem-Solution Oriented Approach. The webinar also aimed to highlight the interplay between the three components and their importance for running a successful business.The webinar witnessed over 100 participants on Zoom, while Facebook and YouTube Live had 209 and 27 views, respectively.

PDPU IIC in association with SPM organised a webinar on ‘Corporate Innovation and Entrepreneurship’ by Dr. Kruti Patel, a Freelance Trainer and the Founder & Director at She & WE – Women Entrepreneurship Foundation. Corporate entrepreneurship is a process through which innovations can be made inside of an existing organization to create value. The webinar aimed to guide how to make a business or an organisation more innovative and successful by constantly innovating new technologies, processes and systems.The webinar witnessed over 190 participants on Zoom, while Facebook and Youtube Live had 305 and 33 views, respectively.

AI for Local Value October 07, 2020

AI for Local Value, a worldwide program was developed by “SERS & the World”, a project of the SERS (Scale Early, Rapidly and Securely) global community and Technology Innovation Management (TIM), Carleton University, Canada. The program intended to target university students and entrepreneurs around the globe. PDPU IIC was one of the 27 partnering organizations for this program and had shortlisted 67 participants for the program out of the total 245 applications received by us. We also partnered with “BenchMatch Technologies Private Limited” (a startup incubated at PDPU IIC), an Industry Partner, for the program. The program was successfully launched on October 7, 2020 and faculty members from 27 universities located in nine countries (Nigeria, China, Peru, Canada, India, State of Victoria, Bulgaria, Sri Lanka, Kosovo) had worked together to develop, deliver and improve the AI for Local Value program. It was delivered over the Internet worldwide in six sessions.

Panel Discussion on “Research, Innovation & Entrepreneurship Opportunities in COVID-19 Scenario” May 15, 2020

PDPU in association with PDPU IIC organised a virtual Panel Discussion on the topic ‘Research, Innovation and Entrepreneurship : opportunities in COVID-19 scenario’ on 15th May, 2020. This discussion aimed to provide a platform for deliberation and discussion on Research, Innovation and Entrepreneurship Opportunities during and post COVID19, through orientation & discussions. A panel of 5 experts, Academia, Funding Agency, Multilateral Organization, and Industry leaders shared their views and shared the area of opportunities for making India a self dependent country. Prof. S.S. Manoharan - Director General, Pandit Deendayal Petroleum University, Shri Sanjeev K Varshney - Advisor and Head, International Cooperation, Department of Science and Technology, Anamika Bhargava - Executive Director,Industry Practise, RGF India, Sunil Parekh - Senior Strategy Advisor, Zydus Cadila Healthcare Group and Jubilant Bhartia Group, Mihir Joshi - President, Gujarat Venture Finance Limited were the experts panelist for the event. The event witnessed a participation of 360+ members of Zoom and had 3800+ views on facebook live.

Let's Hack - COVID-19 Edition April 16, 2020 - July 05, 2020

Adapting to the new normal, PDPU decided to conduct a one of it’s kind virtual hackathon. Let’s Hack - COVID 19 Edition, a 24 hours in-house hackathon was designed for all schools across PDPU, so that students from various domains can help us with their unique perspectives. PDPU partnered with three institutions to deliver this hackathon - TIE, IPPO and CII. The Hackathon witnessed 910 students, i.e. 212 teams tuning in on a virtual platform to solve 46 problems statements collected from industry and academia. It was a 2-month long process of registering, team forming, webinars, panel discussions, mentoring sessions, problem solving, and finally we had our 6 victorious teams! The winning teams were also offered incubation at PDPU IIC. This Hackathon was initiated as a part of the University’s contribution in the fight against the Pandemic.

Workshop on Right Capital for your Business Idea and Design thinking - The Indian Way at Tolani Motwane Institute of Management Studies. February 25, 2020

Team PDPU-IIC organized a workshop based on ‘GrassRoot Innovation’ at Tolani Motwane Institute Management Studies. It was a 3 hour workshop that was aimed at giving a holistic understanding about Right Capital for Business Idea and Design thinking - The Indian Way. The workshop covered aspects like seed capital, venture capital, angel investors, when is a business venture fund ready and many other financial aspects to make an idea commercially feasible in the market. The other part of the workshop was aimed at encouraging participants to understand what it is that they love to do, empathize with one’s self and then explore the design thinking process to actually create customercentered products and services.

Workshop on Grassroot level innovation, resource optimisation at Government Engineering College (GEC), Bhuj February 24, 2020

Team PDPU-IIC organized a workshop based on ‘GrassRoot Innovation’ at GEC, Bhuj. Grassroots innovation is a diverse set of activities in which networks of neighbors, community groups, and activists work with people to generate bottom-up solutions for sustainable developments; novel solutions that respond to the local situation and the interests and values of the communities involved. The 4 Hour long workshop took place in two parts. In the first part of the session, Ms. Drashti Shah talked about idea generation and raising capital for new business ventures. The later part of the workshop focused on optimum utilization of resources and time management through 3 fun activities, each of them providing an understanding of Innovation, Idea Generation, Communication skills and Leadership – qualities essential in an entrepreneur.

Workshop on Grassroot level innovation & resource optimisation at Dharmsinh Desai University (DDU), Nadiad February 22, 2020

PDPU-IIC organized an entrepreneurship awareness workshop at Dharmsinh Desai University (DDU), Nadiad. The focus of the event was at rooting the essence of innovation and entrepreneurship by explaining to them the whereabouts of the PDPU-IIC and how it benefits the budding innovators in all sense. The entire event circled around the spirit of creativity and innovation amongst the college students commencing with an informative session by Ms Drashti Shah on “What is Innovation?”, and how it benefits upcoming startups, and ending on a joyous note with a fun and interactive paper tower activity. There 160+ students who participated in the worksop.

Entrepreneurship workshop on Idea to MVP at Indus University, Ahmedabad February 18, 2020

PDPU Innovation and Incubation Centre in association with the incubation centre at Indus University conducted a workshop on "Entrepreneurship Awareness- idea to MVP" for students at the university from various backgrounds like engineering, MBA and architecture. The purpose of conducting the workshop was to inculcate the idea of entrepreneurship among the students and young innovators. The workshop started with Mr. Anay Mashruwala (Incubatee Coach, PDPU IIC) briefing the students about how an incubation centre works and PDPU IIC. It was followed by activity based learning on the concepts such as Sourcing of Idea wherein Mr.Anay Mashruwala explained the concept to the participants. Next was IKIGAI which was a self-introspection session and lastly the Crossing the Chasm session was conducted.

Capsule Course on Design Thinking and Design to Develop February 07, 2020 - February 09, 2020

PDPU Innovation and Incubation Centre in association with Department of Business Administration and Commerce, School of Liberal Studies organized a Capsule Course on Design Thinking and Design To Develop from 7th February to 9th February with an aim to enable the participants to develop a solution oriented approach.

It was a three day course, wherein 11 different activities were conducted by 2 renowned speakers, Mr Rohan Shah and Ms. Kruti Patel to help students build their ideas better. A total of 65 students from various disciplines across PDPU participated in the event and learnt how to convert their ideas into commercially viable products by developing a product-market fit.

Investor Demode (SHURU UP) February 06, 2020

PDPU Innovation and Incubation Centre (PDPU IIC) in association with SHURU Advisory LLP “SHURU UP” – organised a Pitch Day event for start-ups at PDPU IIC on February 6, 2020 for 9 of our incubated startups. The aim of the event was to bring start-ups and eminent investors on one platform. This was our one of the initiatives to connect the incubatees who are looking to raise funds with the right set of stakeholders. The ticket size of investment was set as Rs. 10 Lakhs to Rs. 10 Crore. The selected start-ups ranged from prototyping to growth stage. Prior to the main event, PDPU IIC and SHURU Advisory arranged a mock pitch on February 4, 2020 for the participating start-ups, wherein the SHURU team helped them understand the investors’ interest and what they look for in a project.

Maker's Fest Vadodara January 18, 2020 - January 19, 2020

PDPU IIC participated in the Maker's Fest, a two-day electric affair organised by Yuvalay Electronic Lab (an initiative of Yuvalay Charitable Trust) and co-hosted with the Faculty of Technology, The Maharaja Sayajirao University of Baroda on January 18-19, 2020. PDPU IIC provided financial sponsorship for the event of Rs 30,000 and 6 of our incubated start-ups exhibited their products. We also offered incubation support to 10 other teams who had participated in the event.
