Start-up Showcase 2018 October 16, 2018
On October 16, 2018 PDPU IIC organised “Startup Showcase 2018” with an aim to spread awareness amongst the students, faculties and PDPU management about the start-ups incubated at PDPU IIC. The event was organised to showcase the work done by each startup, and connect like minded people, so as to benefit both the parties. The showcase recorded a footfall of 500+ visitors and helped startups get real time feedback for their products/ technology along with the inputs from faculty experts. The objective of the event was to promote entrepreneurship amongst students and also showcase the new developments made by the student startups incubated at PDPU IIC.
Vibrant Gujarat Startup and Technology Summit 2018 October 11, 2018 - October 13, 2018
The Government of Gujarat hosts Vibrant Gujarat every year for expanding business horizons and for bringing in investment. With Vibrant Gujarat Start-up and Technology Summit 2018, GoG organised its 2nd edition of Vibrant summit for startups from 11th - 13th October, 2018. PDPU IIC with its 18 incubated start-ups participated in the start-up showcase. To recognize the work done and appreciate it, VG Grand Challenge was organized at VGSTS’18 and a cumulative prize money of INR 3 Cr. was awarded to start-ups by the Government of Gujarat. PDPU IIC’s incubated start-ups bagged 4 awards under this challenge with Torch-it and Recycler securing 1st and 3rd runner-ups place respectively, under Scale up stage. Smart Scoot Lock being awarded under the ideation stage. And additionally, Torch-it being awarded a prize money of INR 1 Lakh for “Best Start-up in Social Category” by YES Bank.
Techstars Startup weekend women edition September 07, 2018 - September 09, 2018
PDPU IIC with Techstars Startup Weekend Ahmedabad chapter organized Techstarts Startup Weekend Women edition on 7th -9th September 2018. Startup Weekend, is a community initiative by Techstars formatted as a 54-hour weekend event, during which groups of developers, startup enthusiasts, marketing gurus, and graphic artists pitch startup ideas, form teams to develop innovative solutions, receive crucial mentorship and present the final prototypes or demo to the jury on Sunday evening. The event witnessed participation from 50+ women aspirants and 10 idea presentations, out of which 3 winners were selected at the end of the event.
Investor connect program at SP-TBI August 10, 2018 - August 11, 2018
PDPU IIC in association with Sardar Patel Technology Business Incubator (SP-TBI) initiated a 2-day Investor Connect Program on 10th-11th August 2018 in Mumbai at SP-TBI for 11 growth stage startups of PDPU IIC. The 11 growth stage startups were Torch-It, Powertree, Chargein, Psioasis, Recycler, Vise Organics, Pin-o-pen, AI city, Freecopy, Autosolar, and PreBuy. The 2 day event was divided into two parts: Mock Pitching day and D-Day. On day 1 the 11 growth stage startups in the first half were trained by experts on “How to make Pitch?” followed by a mock pitching session. On day 2, the 11 startup companies pitched their business ideas in front of 10 renowned VC firms: Z-Nation Labs, Unicorn Adventures, Acumen, Mumbai Angels, Tipping Point, Ah! Ventures, India Angel Networks, Lead Angles, Venture Catalyst and Individual Angel Investors.
SEMCOM July 28, 2018
PDPU IIC was invited by SEMCOM to conduct a small workshop on the importance of entrepreneurship and its importance in the life of a student on 28th July 2018. PDPU IIC felt proud to be associated with SEMCOM and help them in their establishment as a u/s 8 of Company. PDPU Innovation & Incubation Centre (PDPU IIC) took a small initiative to explain to the young generation the importance of perseverance and teamwork. PDPU IIC organised “Paper Tower Challenge” for the students of SEMCOM Universityon their campus on28th July, 2018. The aim of organizing this activity was to offer challenging and engaging ways to introduce students to the central tenets of technological design. The challenge helped the students to build complete understanding about the uses of science and technology in real life with a pinch of fun in the process. On an average around 16 groups of students participated in the challenge and 2 of them managed to ace the challenge.
Angel investing Dejargoned by Mr. Vikrant Potnis July 01, 2018 - July 03, 2018
Venture capital De-Jargoned was a three day workshop organised by PDPU IIC with an aim to help entrepreneurs in understanding one of the most important aspects of running and killing a business. The first day in "Angel investing De- Jargoned" and was a full day program giving individuals a holistic understanding on "How to go about investing in early stage businesses and startups" from an investors point of view. The second and the third day "Venture capital De- Jargoned" was a 2 day program structured from a startup perspective to help them in understanding one of the most important aspects of running and getting a business: Raising Capital.
Nurturepreneurs May 12, 2018
PDPU IIC in association with Nurturepreneurs, conducted a workshop on 12th May 2018 with an aim to invite youth to participate in the journey of pursuing their passion by creating a new venture. The workshop also helped the participants to develop life skills such as communication, teamwork, presentation, collaboration, problem-solving , creativity and so on. The event helped the budding entrepreneurs a means to execute their ideas and convert their innovations into a useful business concept. As a result of the workshop seven amazing ideas were pitched by the students of 9th-12th grade of Anand Niketan School-Satellite Campus.
Techstars Startup weekend - Maker edition April 06, 2018 - April 08, 2018
Techstars Startup Weekend Gandhinagar - Maker Edition, powered by Google for Startups was organized by PDPU IIC on 6-8th April at PDPU campus. Startup Weekend, is a community initiative by Techstars formatted as a 54-hour weekend event, during which groups of developers, startup enthusiasts, marketing gurus, and graphic artists pitch startup ideas, form teams to develop innovative solutions, receive crucial mentorship and present the final prototypes or demo to the jury on Sunday evening. The event saw participation from 110+ enthusiasts forming 16 teams and had 15 partners to support the ideas. The three day event had 12 mentors for continuously guiding the teams. At the end of the event, 3 winners were announced.
Smart Gujarat for New India Hackathon March 24, 2018 - March 25, 2018
The Government of Gujarat with support of the Central Government has been proactively promoting creativity amongst the younger generation. Smart Gujarat for New India Hackathon – an initiative by the Education Department, Government of Gujarat to foster entrepreneurship and innovation amongst students and today’s youth. The initiative of Smart Gujarat for New India Hackathon is taken under Student Startup and an Innovation Policy (SSIP). PDPU IIC organized the Hackathon on 24th -25th March 2018 at PDPU campus and saw a participation of over 1300.
CSR Initiative by ONGC with PDPU IIC January 20, 2018
The event was organized to address and deliver solutions to the major problems faced by the Physically challenged and visually impaired people. The event was a success with selfless support from ONGC. TORCH IT made a major contribution towards solving the problem of visually impaired people, which wouldn’t have been possible without the support of ONGC. The mission of ONGC to the empowerment of the physically and visually impaired people was accomplished. The speeches were delivered by Shri C. GopalKrishnan Director-SPM and Chief mentor-IIC, Assistant Manager ONGC and Major officials of ONGC and President of Blind People Association about how the empowerment of physically challenged people can boost the national economy was quite inspiring and motivated us to work selflessly for betterment of society.
